THIGH HIGHS.
Yes, we all know they are weapons of mass seduction.
BUT
They are also actually a most useful staple in one’s Fall wardrobe.
This is why:
Unlike normal tights, thigh highs are a wonderful way to keep our legs warm without covering it ALL up.
They also allow us to keep staples from our Spring and Summer wardrobe around longer! Hooray!
Don’t want to give up all those adorable skirts you’ve been wearing this Summer? You don’t have to! Some knitted thigh highs with adorable oxford pumps are an easy way to make them work for Fall.
I love pairing mine with my Jeffrey Campbell booties and this lace skirt to give it a little lighter feel.
I think it balances out the chunkiness of the sweater and the socks.

And don’t put your cut offs in storage just yet! Some nice thick thigh highs make it possible for you to wear shorts all throughout Fall! It’s just like wearing pants!…Except totally different and much better.
I pair my thigh highs with my new favorite pair of black leather booties from Heart, my favorite cut offs, an ex boyfriend’s band t-shirt (thanks) and a vintage cardigan.
I love pairing thick, knitted thigh highs with a baggy sweater. It’s like a more put together version of winter pajamas haha. Very comfy and cozy. I with I could wear it all year round.
Again, I’m wearing my booties from Heart, an old sweater from Goodwill, a leather belt from Goodwill and an owl necklace from an antique store. Definitely one of my favorite fall outfits.
I love this outfit because we have two very girlie elements (the lace shorts and the thigh highs) paired with combat boots and a plain working shirt. I am all about contrast, and this is the perfect balance of tough and feminine.
I loved this idea of the thigh highs over fishnets. A little more covered up, but still very sexy.
Even when you’re all bundled up, thigh highs allow you to pop that tiny bit of leg out to let everyone know you ARE still sexy, even if it’s freezing out.
It’s also great pairing them with flat oxfords because they really lengthen your legs. This is probably the only way I would wear flats.

So now that we’ve established why thigh highs are so great for Fall, we can get back to why they are so awesome in general.
Which is…
They are terribly sexy, in a most classy way.
Exhibit A.
“What do you mean, this isn’t how you change a tire? You mean you don’t just pull it off like this? Oh, please, can some strapping man come help me?”
You see, thigh highs always have been and always will be a TEASE. In all the pictures of pin-up girls, they could have just been bare-legged, but that wouldn’t be any fun. No. Thigh highs show just enough without showing too much, thus letting your imagination go wild. They draw attention to the shape of your legs and draw the eye up to the exposed skin at the top of your legs which is (hello) right below your adorable little toosh. That they can’t see.
So, yeah. They KIND of drive men crazy.
I love wearing them because they do make me feel sexy but still very much like a lady. Even if I’m wearing my knitted thigh highs, I still can’t help but feel like a pin-up girl from the 40′s. Maybe that’s what guys think of when they see them and that’s why they go so crazy. Silly boys.
Just for fun, here’s a little slide show of some of my favorite thigh-high/pin-up images. To think at one point in time, this was basically porn. My my, how far we have come…not necessarily in a good way.
Make sure to come by & say hi on my personal blog: Let It Reign.
