{ Treasuring Old Things… }
I love when old friends come into town.
So much to catch up on (well, maybe not with Facebook), and great to show them wonderful things around Sacramento. Something in Sacramento I’d love to show more people is the Sacramento Antique Fair. It’s THIS Sunday (tomorrow)!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Similar to the flea markets I’ve reviewed, even if you’re not in the market for anything in particular, it’s a fun way to spend a morning with friends. This is my beautiful friend, Liz. She was in town & I insisted we go to the antique fair together!
She was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding, and as of late, lives in Alabama where her husband is stationed in the military. It’s hard for a military bride to find work in a tiny military base town, where all the potential employers know you could have to just up & leave if your husband is called away.
So, Liz turned her lack of employment & cabin fever into art.
With the invent of Etsy, creatives all over have a platform for selling the things they create. (I can seriously get LOST on Etsy for hours. I have to force myself to log off!) The antique fair is fun anyway, but I particularly wanted to bring Liz, because she is an incredible jewelry designer, who gains inspiration everywhere, and incorporates old & new in her pieces. She enjoys completely disassembling a piece from a garage sale (or antique fair!) and using each part in a seperate piece.
When Liz & I went together to the antique fair, we found a ton of great stuff, & I took a million pictures, but she walked away with some great vintage glass beads that she’s going to use in some upcoming pieces.
. . . . . . .
This is a gorgeous hair piece by Liz called “Queen Elizabeth”. You can order it HERE.
She has necklaces, earrings, hair pieces, bracelets…I honestly want them all. And knowing they’re hand-crafted & unique makes me love it even more.
. . . . . . .
Go to Liz’s FACEBOOK FAN PAGE ,
become a fan & tell your friends.
Then, go directly to her ETSY SHOP
& browse all the loveliness.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
For those of you Sacramentans who want to be out & about in the GORGEOUS weather we’re having, I hope to see you out at the antique fair tomorrow!

READER POLL:
– Have you ever been to the antique fair here in Sac?
– Do you shop on Etsy? What are your favorite shops?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Etsy! Sadly, I use up many hours I should spend on other things at that site. Thus far I’ve purchased artwork there. The past few months I’ve been working with seller metalsmitten (she’s great!) on a birthday present for my friend. I was able to get the materials for it from another Etsy seller.
I’ll be perusing Liz’s shop now. …sigh. Thanks Kari, like I needed another excuse to visit the website…
Love Liz’s designs! I ordered two pairs of earrings that I’m trilled with.
Carmel Macchiato – Elegant pearl http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=42762847
and another pair of oriental red earrings that aren’t even listed on the site any longer because each piece is a limited edition (5 or less).
I just saw this for the first time…. I know that it is an old post, but I wanted to THANK you for giving a “shout out” for the Sac Antique Faire!!! :)
My best to you,
Marylon Rose
